CROSSING EUROPE FILM - IRGENDWANN WIRST DU VERSTEHEN

Patricia Göckert hat mit Personen aus der LGBTIQA+ Community gesprochen, die ihren oft schwierigen Weg zur Selbstakzeptanz emotional und zugleich analytisch schildern. Von der Überwindung des von der Gesellschaft induzierten Selbsthasses bis zum Stolz auf die eigene Persönlichkeit, von Unterstützung durch Familienmitglieder, aber auch von der Intoleranz gerade auf dem Land wird erzählt. Auch die starre Geschlechteridentität hinterfragen die selbstsicheren Protagonist*innen in einem Film, der vor allem Mut macht, zu sich zu stehen. (Günter Pscheider) This movie is about giving queer people the opportunity to use their voices in order to inspire others to find theirs. It is about their stories. Stories about discrimination, suffering, oppression and fear. But also about unconditional love and solidarity. Stories that were told bravely. The aim is to show that the dream of an equal world is far from real. It requires a lot of educational work and action. It needs people who talk, demonstrate and show that they will never lose courage. The challenge is to overcome the normative and this fight is far from over.

Director's Biography Patricia Göckert (*1999, Linz) is a multimedia artist. Her work, which she creates using a wide variety of media, deals with socio-critical and queer-feminist topics.
